The Greyhound Adoption & Rescue of Las Vegas is dedicated to rescuing and adopting of retired racing greyhounds. Greyhound racing is the source of an inhumane ritual of destroying thousands of greyhounds each year in the name of entertainment. As such, we are active in the community to educate Southern Nevadans about the cruelty of greyhound racing and primarily to find loving homes for as many retired greyhounds as possible.

Imagine...

...143 golden retrievers found shot to death in an empty field.

...A jack russell Terrier electrocuted in a party atmosphere.

...discovering a mound of 100 dead poodles by the side of the road with all their ears cut off so that no trace could be left to the owner.

...A boat load of live chihuahuas thrown overboard into the ocean knowing they would drown alive because it was too much work to find potential adoptees.

Sadly, with greyhounds no imagination is required. These are just a few of the documented horror stories that have been in the media in recent years of racing greyhounds. The Greyhound Adoption and Rescue of Las Vegas is open advocates to the abolition of greyhound racing for this exact reason. While greyhound racing reduced dramatically over the years, many greyhound racing kennels practice cruel and abusive treatment to these loving animals to make them "better racers."

Fortunately through, our "Pony Express" type network with other greyhound rescue organizations in the southwest allows us to bring these retired four-legged athletes to Las Vegas and to find loving homes for them.
